Public Speaking
A public speaker with over five years experience, and previously an entertainer for over thirty years, Paulus’ talks are all highly theatrical with full costume, make-up and live music from Betsy the Ukulele and Paulus’ vocals. Paulus is a registered speaker with 4 Women’s Institute Federations, plus he has entertained many others over Zoom. Talks also delivered to U3A, Rotary, Townswomen’s Guild, Salvation Army, Tangent and various ladies luncheon clubs. He is always excited to meet new groups and entertain more people.
Paulus offers a range of talks, either in person or on Zoom: The Life of A Travelling Showman, Victoria Wood & Me, Life Is A Cabaret! and Fifteen Minutes: Fleeting Fame. Please email info@thecabaretgeek.com if you have any questions.
The Life of A Travelling Showman
A highly personal 45min talk including showbiz anecdotes and live music, Paulus shares the highs and lows of his 30 years working in the weird and wonderful world of variety, cabaret and burlesque accompanied by his trusty ukulele, Mabel.
Fees
Paulus charges a flat fee of £170 to cover talk and train, tube and bus travel. A lift to and from your nearest station would prevent having to add taxi fares on top of this. Talks can also be delivered via Zoom for £85.
Requirements
Paulus’ round-trip to appear as your speaker is typically around 6hrs in length. He requires 45mins to prepare and get changed in an appropriate ‘dressing room’ with a table and chair and electrical plug socket, where he can safely keep his valuables during the talk. A toilet is not acceptable. Nor is a store cupboard with mouse traps and no heating (yes, these things have happened). Bottled water or a cup of tea is always appreciated.

Victoria Wood & Me
Paulus watched Victoria Wood on television with his Mum since the age of ten. Now he has created a show celebrating her musical genius. Includes Victoria Wood songs played on Paulus’ trusty ukulele, Mabel.

Life Is A Cabaret!
It’s the Roaring Twenties – again! And along with the glorious age of jazz, the 1920’s brought us the heyday of cabaret, captured perhaps most notably in the 1972 Liza Minnelli movie by Bob Fosse. 100 years on, Paulus invites you to join him in a celebration of this much misunderstood art-form, which has been pivotal to the inclusion in the arts of some of our most vibrant, colourful and outlandish artistes. So, dust off your feather boas and top hats, and pop some prosecco as we explore the wonderful world of cabaret!

Zoom – 30 min talk plus 15mins Q&A, if desired. £78.50. Payable in advance.

Fifteen Minutes: Fleeting Fame
In early 2018, Paulus was transported into the front rooms of an average of 3.5m families each Saturday via the BBC TV talent show ‘All Together Now’. As the ‘hard-to-impress’ judge he quickly made a name for himself, working alongside comic host Rob Beckett and Spice Girl Geri Horner, and was back for the Xmas Celeb Special and Series 2 in 2019.
This is his story of what it was like to become a TV villain overnight. Includes more songs on his trusty ukulele, Mabel.
