# ‘What Wood Victoria Do?’ Press Round Up

Victoria Wood Show Still

It seems that the word is getting around about What Wood Victoria Do?, my new show celebrating the music, wit and wonderfully peculiar world of Victoria Wood. Since announcing the production and beginning our tour, I’ve been chatting to a few lovely people in the theatre press, and it’s been rather nice to see the show getting some attention.

First up, The Recs invited me to look back at my lifelong affection for Victoria, from first discovering As Seen on TV at the age of ten to creating two shows around her extraordinary songbook. We also got into the question of why on earth I thought a second show was a good idea, given that my husband and director were both initially unconvinced! As I pointed out, with around 400 songs registered with PRS, we’d barely scratched the surface with the first production. Read the interview at The Recs.

West End Best Friend also caught up with me to discuss the new production, including the differences between Looking For Me Friend and What Wood Victoria Do?. Whereas the former was a dialogue with my pianist Michael Roulston, this new show is a rather more theatrical affair: a play with songs written by Victoria, performed entirely solo. We also discussed the importance of Sarah-Louise Young’s direction, the female characters who populate Victoria’s work, and why her humour continues to resonate. Read the full interview here.

There are also features over at Lou Reviews, West End Wilma and QX Magazine,as well as interviews as All that Dazzles, and each offering a little more about what audiences can expect from this new musical journey through the Victoria Wood Songbook.

And if reading about the show isn’t quite enough, there’s a chance to see and hear a little of it too. We’ve put together a first-look video, giving you a taste of what’s in store.

It’s been a real pleasure talking about the show, and particularly about the women, friendships and communities that sit at its heart. Victoria’s work has always had a way of bringing people together, and I hope this new production does a little of that too.

And if you’re in the mood for a little more Victoria Wood, why not take a look at my brand new show, playing The Victoria Wood Theatre and many other locations across the UK in 2026-27, What Wood Victoria Do? A fresh celebration of Victoria Wood’s wit, wisdom and music, it asks how on earth we’ve managed the last decade without her – and what she’d make of the world we live in today.
